Why we built a digital nomad community

by Mevish Aslam

At Terminal 3 we empower your growth by facilitating your personal and professional development and remote work productivity across the world.

By digital nomads for digital nomads.

As digital nomads, we tend to be solo travellers. This has been the case for me. For eight years I have been on/off the road both as a nomad and expat. In 2015 for the very first time I traveled and worked remotely with a community of Entrepreneurs on the EU-Brazil Connect program. The program connected European Entrepreneurs with Incubators and Entrepreneurs in Brazil for up to six months.

A long weekend away in Ubatuba with Entrepreneurs from the EU-Brazil Connect Program

During my time in Brazil, there were over sixty entrepreneurs from the program spread across the country. We curated a close-knit community and regularly met up for meals, city trips, personal and professional development and even created mastermind groups. This was the first time in a long time I was surrounded with an awesome crowd of like-minded people.

In the midst of our community building in Brazil I joined forces with another Entrepreneur. Oh My Bra Co-Founder, Saskia Naujok from Berlin became my co-founder at Sprinters, a Three Day Hackathon to support women into Entrepreneurship.

After entrepreneurs on the program left for Europe, I did the opposite and extended my stay. To fill the void of loneliness and lack of community I networked with local communities at meetups and professional events.

Whilst working remotely across South America, I took part in Startup Weekend in both Chile and Brazil. Giving back to local communities as a mentor was an amazing opportunity.

Despite making lifelong friendships on the road, I soon realized as did others on my program the value of the community we built. Once back in Europe, Terminal 3 was born out our program reunion in Brussels inspired by my eight years on the road and most recent experience in Brazil.

Its no secret, ‘a key challenge as a digital nomad is loneliness’ as stated by Buffer CEO, Joe Gascoigne. Loneliness topped with the stress of spending hours if not days booking travel arrangements and dealing with logistics is no fun either. This easily ate into my working schedule.

However, at Terminal 3 we do all this for you. The program is developed with our expertise of YOU the remote worker in mind. Six months travel and remote work in a different country each month. Investing in your growth is the best investment in life.

The digital nomad life is lonely. With 84% of UK employers and 39% of US companies being open to remote work, time is now to connect with a community of like-minded people. We scheduled a limited number of slots for Terminal 3 which are now fast filling up. Join a community, grow, travel and learn.

Our Best,
